GIMAT’s ribbon mixers, also known as ribbon blenders or powder mixers, in general are built of painted carbon steel or stainless steel AISI 304 or 316 with surface treatments making them suitable for this application.
The sheet metal used has considerable thickness to withstand the stresses of the powder mixing process which occurs rapidly and homogeneously thanks to the particular four-way ribbon and four cross-flows.

The available volumes for batch typemixers are 190 -340 – 550 – 980 – 1400 – 2000 – 3500 usable liters with power ratings that vary depending on the applications from 2.2 kW to 22 kW.
Different dimensions and capacities can nonetheless be evaluated and supplied also for vertical mixers type and ploughshare Mixers.
How Does a Ribbon Blender Work?
Direct transmission by gearmotor with right-angled axles and an elastic joint having torsional flexibility as a function of the different load conditions ensures high output of the entire kinematic chain and quiet operation.
The inserted joint dampens vibrations and reduces the maximum impact load thereby creating an actual shock absorber for the rotary motion.
The gearmotor is controlled by a vector inverter to allow the gradual startup of the mixer even if it has a full load and to adjust the rotation speed according to the percentage of fullness.
Upon request, or in certain installation conditions, the ribbon mixer can be provided with a gearmotor having right-angled axles and a chain transmission with a special bidirectional spring-action tightener to allow inversion of the rotation direction.
In this solution a hydrodynamic viscose joint is mounted for full-load startups and to protect the entire transmission.
The ribbon blender’s supports are made with oscillating bearings and dust seals on the heads; the seals are made with greasable puddening that can be fluxed from the outside with air.
The rotating gaskets have a special automatic system for recovering slack due to wear; this system allows the puddening to always work optimally, ensuring perfect tightness of the mixing ribbon shaft.
Therefore it reduces the number of manual adjustments required by traditional sealing systems while minimizing the bothersome and hazardous powder leaks that invalidate the duration of the bearings.
The upper lids of the ribbon blender have hatches for inspecting product load.
The load is emptied in the center through an unloading mouth that is operated manually or pneumatically.
