SCREW CONVEYORS
Conveying system particularly suitable for high capacity loads at low angular speed. It is made of a screw that rotates around its own axis, thereby exerting an axial thrust on the material contained in the conveyor tube.
The system is built of stainless steel 304 or 316; upon request it can be built of painted carbon steel.
GIMAT screw conveyors are made to customer specifications (see attached table for approximate idea of models that can be built) with special care and attention given to preventing the powders from entering the bearings in the thrust block assembly and the pulling assembly and those of the intermediate support, if supplied, in cases of conveyors longer than 4-5 m.
To overcome this problem GIMAT has designed for the thrust assembly and pulling assembly a special greasable puddening dust seal with automatic recovery of the slack that occurs during operation.
This way the puddening always works optimally to ensure a perfect seal on the rotating shaft of the screw.
This system reduces the number of manual adjustments that the traditional sealing systems require and also minimizes the annoying and hazardous powder leaks that invalidate the duration of the bearings.
The intermediate support is made with a special self-lubricating material that is FDA-approved for contact with food; it has frontal seals, and a preloading device, made according to GIMAT design.
These are the advantages of the screw conveyor:

6. Stainless steel versions perfectly suitable for conveying chemicals, pharmaceuticals or food products.

9. Conveyed product can be cooled in cases of spiral conveyors made with outer jacket for containing coolant.
Upon request the system can be designed and built in conformity to ATEX Directive 94/9/CE for
